About Citizens Advice Woking
Free, confidential, impartial and independent advice
We are Citizens Advice Woking – your local charity
We’re a local charity (not funded by central government) providing free, confidential and impartial advice to help people in Woking find a way forward — whatever their situation.
Every year, thousands of local people turn to us for support with housing, money, employment, benefits, family issues and more. Our trained advisers and volunteers help people navigate difficult times, uphold their rights, and regain stability and confidence.
Our advice helps keep roofs over heads, food on tables and heating in homes — ensuring that no one in Woking has to face their problems alone.
Our mission
We’re passionate about improving lives through advice, support and campaigning.
We help people:
- Understand their rights and options
- Access the help and support they’re entitled to
- Tackle the root causes of their problems
- Influence change by highlighting the issues our clients face
We believe in a fair and inclusive society where everyone can access the information and support they need to thrive.

Our history
Citizens Advice Woking has been part of the local community since 1939, helping people through every kind of challenge — from wartime recovery to the cost of living crisis.
We’re proud to be part of the National Citizens Advice network, a partnership of local charities that share knowledge, training and resources. While we carry the national name, we are independently run and funded, relying on grants and the generosity of local supporters to continue our work.
Our local offices and outreach sessions — including Byfleet, Sheerwater and the Sythwood — make it easier for people across Woking to access advice close to home.
Our Board of Trustees
Citizens Advice Woking is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees, who ensure we deliver high-quality, accessible and inclusive services for our community.
They set our overall direction, monitor performance, and make sure we meet both local needs and national Citizens Advice standards.

Our funding & support
We receive funding from local councils, charitable trusts and community partners — but much of our income depends on local fundraising and donations.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue providing free, independent advice to those who need it most.
You can help too.
Campaigning for change
We don’t just help people in crisis — we fight for the systems that failed them.
Every day, we see the realities facing local people in Woking: unfair housing decisions, rising costs, inaccessible services and policies that leave the most vulnerable behind. We use this evidence to push for change, holding decision-makers to account and demanding fairer outcomes for our community.
We work with Councillors, MPs and local organisations to challenge what isn’t working and improve support for everyone, not just those who reach our doors. We also feed powerful local stories into national Citizens Advice campaigns, influencing policy across the UK.
We won’t stop until Woking is a place where everyone can access the support they need and are treated fairly.
